  1. This GEM as Dave calls it ,is not needed anymore in today’s world of energy. If a private company wants to make a go of it so be it,but Midland and Gladwin counties need to steer clear from taxpayer funds going anywhere toward it. Make it a water wonderland with all types of resort style activities ,jet ski rentals, house boat rentals, you name it and see if they come.. chances are not, that’s why its a poor investment that would benefit a very small portion of taxpayers. As far as producing electricity I thought all the energy companies around here shifted to Windmills ,they have been jamming them down any township that will give away there skyline. Hey there’s an Idea, have the windmills installed in the river basins and use all that lease money to get it back to a lakeish river again and by that time you will kill two birds with one stone, energy and water. Now that benefits all taxpayers, correct?
