Glenn wins state Senate G.O.P. primary with broad conservative support, defeating three challengers

MIDLAND, Mich. — With broad conservative support, Annette Glenn will move on to face Democrat Kristen McDonald Rivet in the general election in November for a state Senate seat. Ms. Glenn defeated Tim Kelly, Martin Blank, and Christian Velasquez in the G.O.P. primary for the 35th District.

Midland has a tradition of sending its G.O.P. state representatives to the state Senate in a game of ‘musical politicians’ due to term-limits. Then-State Rep. Tony Stamas was elected to the state Senate after serving in the state House, then State Rep. John Moolenaar was elected to the state Senate after serving in the state House, before moving on to replace U.S. Rep. Dave Camp; and Jim Stamas was elected to his current post after having served in the state House.

This is a developing story.
