Indianapolis Tradesman Sam Boomershine, 28, and Girlfriend Killed in Motorcycle Crash After Indy 500

Sam Boomershine was the kind of person who made you feel like you mattered. Those who knew him describe a young man who gave freely of his time, his loyalty, and his laughter.

His sudden passing in a motorcycle accident, alongside his girlfriend Hayley Curran, has left a wide circle of friends and family in Indianapolis grappling with a grief that words can barely hold.

Gabi Clark, a close friend who met Sam through mutual circles in 2025, shared a heartfelt tribute that painted a vivid picture of who he was. When she was going through one of the harder stretches of her life, Sam stepped up without being asked.

He invited her to his favorite spot, Brother’s Bar in Broad Ripple, for cold beers and long conversations.

He helped her fix things around her apartment, looked out for her in uncomfortable situations, and simply made sure she was okay. To Gabi, he was not just a friend. He was the older brother she never had.

Sam was also known for his humor and his genuine heart. When he matched with Hayley Curran on Hinge, he turned to Gabi for help, admitting that while he was talented in many ways, crafting that first message was not exactly in his wheelhouse.

With a little wingwoman support, he secured the date. From that point on, he could not stop talking about her.

He asked for advice constantly, checked in about every little thing, and made no secret of how happy she made him. Friends who watched the relationship unfold said it was one of those rare connections where two people simply fit.

A Community Left Standing Still

Beyond his closest circle, Sam was woven into a broader community of people who loved motorcycles, shared workshops, and showed up for each other at weddings and weekend rides.

Joey Ratcliff, a friend from what he called his Indy bike family, reflected on memories made at a mutual friend’s wedding and time spent out on rides together. He did not have a single great photo with Sam, he admitted, but the memories were there, solid and real.

Doug Church, a colleague who worked alongside Sam, asked his own network for prayers on behalf of the family. He described himself as devastated and heartbroken, simple words that carried the full weight of sudden loss.

The day before the accident, Gabi had seen both Sam and Hayley at the Indianapolis 500, sharing what she did not yet know would be their final moments together. Hayley had just commented that the two of them had no photos together and pulled out her phone to change that.

Sam and Hayley talked about their plans, excited about watching the race from turn four in the infield, full of energy, and looking forward to the day ahead.

That image is the one friends are holding onto now. Two people deeply in love, surrounded by the noise and celebration of one of the biggest days on the Indianapolis calendar, entirely alive.

Sam Boomershine left behind friendships that were built on real presence and genuine care. The people who loved him are not forgetting that anytime soon.
