Parowan, Utah, Student, Dusty Rose Dalley, 12, Killed After Side-by-Side Rolls Over and Catches Fire Near Iron County Fairgrounds

A 12-year-old girl from Parowan, Utah, died Friday evening after the side-by-side utility vehicle she was riding in rolled over and caught fire near the Iron County Fairgrounds. Dusty Rose Dalley, born August 9, 2013, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was surrounded by a community that is now mourning the loss of a girl known for her boundless energy, infectious smile, and genuine kindness toward everyone she met.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:49 p.m. on June 12, 2026, near the Valentine Peak Sports Complex in Parowan. Dusty and another girl, age 13, were operating the side-by-side together when investigators believe the vehicle turned too wide on an angled section of road, causing the wheels to catch and the vehicle to roll over.

During the rollover, the side-by-side caught fire. The 13-year-old was able to escape the burning vehicle and sustained injuries. Dusty became trapped inside and could not be saved.

When first responders arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was so intense that officials initially believed they were responding to a burning truck before determining it was a side-by-side.

A trauma counselor also responded to the scene to support those who witnessed the tragedy. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is leading the ongoing investigation and has acknowledged the deep toll this incident has taken on the tight-knit Parowan community.

A Girl Who Loved Deeply and Lived Fully

Dusty Rose was the beloved daughter of Justin and Kim Dalley and a cherished sister to Stetson, Hunter, and Haddie. Those who knew her described a girl who lit up every room she walked into.

She played softball and basketball, performed on the dance floor, and spent her free time camping, fishing, and being around horses. She also loved baking treats to share with her family and friends, always finding ways to show people she cared.

Her family remembers her as someone who had a special gift for making others feel seen and included. She gave everything she had, whether she was competing on the court, riding outdoors, or simply spending time with the people she loved.

The family is also asking for continued prayers for the other girl involved in the crash, referring to her as “our Bekah Girl,” as she continues to recover from her injuries.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cedar Valley Funeral and Cremation, with details to be announced. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support the Dalley family during this overwhelming time.

The Parowan school community released a statement expressing their heartbreak and offering condolences to the families involved.

School officials reminded students that free therapy resources are available, with walk-in support offered Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Students can also text 81010 with the message @2getherphs to schedule an appointment.

Dusty Rose Dalley is survived by her parents, her three siblings, her grandparents, Michelle Harris and Rob and Tonya Dalley, along with extended family, teammates, classmates, and countless friends whose lives she touched.

She was 12 years old. She will not be forgotten.
