Armed Robbery Turns Deadly in Moncks Corner, One Killed and One Hospitalized

A midday shooting in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, turned deadly on Wednesday, June 10, after officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the area of 106 Foxbank Plantation Boulevard, located between Parker’s Kitchen and a nearby construction site, around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities confirmed one victim died at the scene, while a second victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The incident drew a significant emergency response, with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Moncks Corner Police Department, first responders, and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office all responding to the scene.

Person of Interest Taken Into Custody

Officers confirmed a person of interest is in custody. Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the incident was isolated.

A witness named Chaise Cumbee said three people were involved in the incident. He had just returned from lunch when he heard a gunshot and was asked by one of the individuals involved to call the police.

Cumbee described the reaction of those nearby, saying,

“Everybody’s in awe. They can’t believe it happened, especially right here in broad daylight. We never thought nothing like this would happen.”

Moncks Corner Police Chief Antwan Richardson released a statement addressing the gravity of the situation. Richardson described the shooting as “a tragic and senseless act of violence” that had deeply impacted those involved, their families, and the broader community.

He said the department is committed to a thorough investigation to ensure all facts are uncovered and those responsible are held fully accountable. He also asked the public to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts as detectives continue working the case.

Parker’s Kitchen has since reopened to the public. No additional information about the identities of the victims or the specific circumstances leading up to the shooting has been released by authorities at this time.
