Bruce Springsteen Slams Trump as “Treasonous” During UK Tour Kickoff
Bruce Springsteen is known for his soul-stirring lyrics, powerful performances, and deep love for America. But during the kickoff of his “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour in Manchester, England, the 75-year-old rock legend didn’t just bring his guitar and the E Street Band. He also brought bold political commentary that lit up headlines across both sides of the Atlantic.
On Wednesday night, Springsteen took center stage and delivered a passionate criticism of former President Donald Trump and his administration. His words were sharp, direct, and filled with frustration over what he sees as a betrayal of American values.
“America Is in the Hands of a Corrupt Administration”
Springsteen didn’t hold back. In front of thousands of fans, he said:
“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”
He went on to describe Trump’s leadership as authoritarian, accusing him of trying to silence free speech, roll back civil rights, and side with dictators over democratic allies.

Springsteen called on lovers of democracy to raise their voices and not sit quietly. He encouraged his audience to use the power of art, music, and protest in what he called “dangerous times.”
“The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock ‘n’ roll in dangerous times.”
His speech didn’t just stay within the walls of the stadium. Springsteen posted a full transcript and video of his remarks on his official website and YouTube, reaching millions more worldwide.
Trump Responds With Harsh Words on Truth Social
Just two days later, Donald Trump hit back with a blistering response on his social media platform, Truth Social.
He called Springsteen “a pushy, obnoxious JERK” and insulted his physical appearance by referring to him as a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker.” Trump also accused Springsteen of blindly supporting President Joe Biden, whom he called “a mentally incompetent FOOL.”
“Springsteen is dumb as a rock… ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country… Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
The exchange quickly ignited debate online. Supporters of Springsteen praised his courage, while critics echoed Trump’s anger.
This Isn’t Springsteen’s First Clash With Trump
Springsteen has been a vocal critic of Trump for nearly a decade. In 2016, he called Trump a “moron” in an interview with Rolling Stone. In 2020, he told The Atlantic he feared democracy might not survive another four years of Trump.
During the 2024 presidential election, Springsteen endorsed Kamala Harris and once again slammed Trump as the “most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.”
“Perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as politically, spiritually and emotionally divided as it does than at this moment. It doesn’t have to be this way.”
