Is That Josh Peck in The Last of Us Episode 4? Fans Stunned by Surprise Cameo

The Last of Us isn’t shy when it comes to surprise appearances, but Episode 4 of Season 2 might have just delivered the most unexpected cameo yet—Josh Peck. Yes, that Josh Peck. The same guy who once yelled “Hug me, brotha!” on Drake & Josh now shows up as a FEDRA soldier in the brutal, mushroom-filled world of The Last of Us.

It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but one that left fans scratching their heads and rewinding just to be sure they saw what they saw.

What Was Josh Peck Doing in The Last of Us?

The episode kicks off with a flashback scene set long before the events with Ellie and Dina. Peck plays a soldier riding in the back of a military truck, casually telling a crude joke about a fellow officer who misunderstood the word “dissemination.” Just as the story hits its punchline, Peck throws out a loud and unexpected, “No one asked you, jizz boy!”

Classic Peck energy, right?

For a brief second, it feels like The Last of Us took a detour into Drake & Josh territory—until the mood shifts hard.

How Does Peck’s Scene End?

Enter Isaac Dixon, played by the always-intense Jeffrey Wright, who makes his first appearance this season in a chilling introduction. As he joins Peck’s character and the rest of the FEDRA unit, the tone turns cold. Within moments, Isaac betrays the entire truckload of soldiers—including Peck’s character—by dropping a grenade into the truck, killing them all in one brutal move.

So yes—Josh Peck gets about two minutes of screen time and then gets blown up by Jeffrey Wright. Welcome to The Last of Us, where no one’s safe. Not even childhood sitcom stars.

Did Peck Know What He Was Getting Into?

Apparently, he did—and he had fun with it.

Before the episode aired, Peck shared a hilarious TikTok poking fun at his character’s short-lived appearance and Joel’s death earlier in the season. “I’m going through a loss,” he joked. “Joel, season 2, episode 2 of The Last of Us. It was devastating.”

So not only was he in on the joke, but he leaned into it fully—and fans loved it.

Why Bring In Josh Peck At All?

Let’s be real: Peck’s cameo wasn’t meant to shape the plot. It was a clever way to set the stage for Isaac Dixon’s character.

Isaac, a major figure in The Last of Us Part II game, is the leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF)—the same group Abby and her friends belong to. By showing us this early betrayal, the show gives us a taste of Isaac’s ruthlessness and introduces him as a force to be reckoned with.

Josh Peck’s character? Just collateral damage. But memorable, nonetheless.

Was This The Most Surprising Cameo Yet?

We’ve had some solid The Last of Us guest stars—Nick Offerman stole the show in Season 1, and Catherine O’Hara added serious emotional weight this season. But Josh Peck as a doomed FEDRA grunt? That’s a whole different flavor of surprise.

It was weird, it was brief, it was funny, and then it was violent—pretty much the perfect tone shift for The Last of Us. So while Peck’s soldier may be long gone, his cameo now belongs to that growing list of characters we didn’t know we needed… until they were gone.

Gone too soon, “jizz boy.” Gone too soon.
