Shelby Township, MI, Omar Riadh Karana, 29, Passes way Leaving His Parents, Riadh and Batool Karana

Omar Riadh Karana, born January 23, 1997, passed away on June 4, 2026, at just 29 years old. His passing has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the greater Michigan community.

Those who knew him are coming together over three days of services to honor a young man whose life, though brief, was filled with love, devotion, and deep family ties.

Omar is survived by his parents, Riadh and Batool Karana, and his loving wife, Mervana Karana. He was also the cherished father of two children, Blake and Gabriel Karana, who will carry his memory forward every day of their lives.

He is further survived by a large and close-knit family, including his siblings Yousif and Shannon Karana, Reem and the late Arkan Karana, Yvonne and Sarmad Shayota, Reva and Fadi Seman, Rhonda and Amanoel Allos, Lourd and Sarhad Najor, Zena and Yousif Seman, and Silvia and Paul Jaboro.

A Life Defined by Family, Faith, and Love

To know Omar was to know someone who poured himself into the people around him. As a husband to Mervana and a father to Blake and Gabriel, he built a life centered on those he loved most.

His roots ran deep in the Chaldean Catholic faith, a tradition that shaped who he was and how he lived.

That same faith now carries his family through one of the hardest moments they will ever face. At just 29, Omar leaves behind a legacy not measured in years but in the love he gave freely and the lives he touched along the way.

Three Days of Services Bring the Community Together to Say Goodbye

The family has organized a meaningful series of services beginning Friday, June 5, with an Acceptance of Condolences from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Shelby Banquet Center, located at 50265 Van Dyke Ave in Shelby Township.

On Saturday, June 6, a Requiem Mass will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. George Chaldean Catholic Church, 45700 Dequindre Rd, Shelby Township, officiated by Fr. Manuel Boji.

Following the Mass, a Committal Service will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield.

The day continues with a Memorial Luncheon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and an Acceptance of Condolences from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., both at the Bellagio Banquet Hall, 4100 East 14 Mile Road in Warren.

A final Acceptance of Condolences will be held Sunday, June 7, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. back at the Shelby Banquet Center.

The community is invited to come together, offer support, and celebrate the life of a young man who meant so much to so many. Omar was a husband, a father, a son, and a brother.

The grief his family carries right now is immeasurable, and yet the outpouring of love surrounding these services speaks to the mark he left on everyone around him.

As his family shared with deep faith: “Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.” Omar Riadh Karana is gone far too soon, but he will never be forgotten.
