Ralston, NE, Shane Krantz, 29, Passes Away After Being Fatally Shot at Kwik Shop on 72nd Street
A fatal shooting at a convenience store in Ralston, Nebraska, left a young man dead and multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances surrounding the early morning attack.
On June 4, 2026, at approximately 6:40 a.m., officers from the Ralston Police Department, along with law enforcement partners from the Omaha Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the La Vista Police Department, responded to reports of a shooting at the Kwik Shop located at 5208 South 72nd Street, near the intersection of 72nd and Q streets.
Upon arrival, officers found a man lying in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later identified by the Ralston Police Department as 29-year-old Shane Krantz.
The Omaha Fire Department transported Krantz to CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital with life-saving measures underway. Despite those efforts, Krantz was later confirmed to have passed away at the hospital.
What Witnesses Told Investigators
According to the Ralston Police Department, witnesses who were present in the vehicle with Krantz told officers that a person who knew the victim drove up to the location, initiated an altercation, and then shot Krantz in the chest.
The shooting appeared to stem from a targeted confrontation rather than a random act of violence, though authorities have not yet disclosed the full circumstances leading up to the altercation.

The Ralston Police Department stated in its official press release that the victim sustained the gunshot wound after being involved in an altercation with a suspect in another vehicle.
Authorities said officers are actively searching for the suspect responsible for the shooting. As of Thursday evening, no arrests had been announced.

Ralston police confirmed that at this time, there is no known threat to the general public. The department thanked its law enforcement partners for their coordinated response to the scene, which saw multiple agencies present for more than the initial hours following the shooting.
