Colorado Springs Family Loses 13-Year-Old Daughter, Annabelle Hollon, Community Rallies With $63K GoFundMe

The Hollon family is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Annabelle, their 13-year-old daughter, who passed away on the evening of Monday, May 12, 2026.

Candace and Brandon Hollon, along with their other children, are now navigating what can only be described as the most devastating week of their lives.

Friends, family, and community members have come together online and in person to offer prayers, donations, and an outpouring of love that speaks to the kind of impact Annabelle had on everyone around her.

Amanda Hollon, a family member, shared the news on Facebook on May 14, writing that losing someone so young is something you are never prepared for.

“13 years you got to be here with us wasn’t long enough,” she wrote, asking friends and followers to pray for the family.

The post quickly drew dozens of responses from people expressing their grief and shock, many of them saying they were praying and thinking of the Hollons during this impossibly painful time.

The Girl Behind the Name

Those who knew Annabelle describe her as someone far beyond her years. Her mother, Candace, often called her the one child keeping her sane, a sentiment that hints at just how grounded and mature Annabelle was within the family.

One story shared in the GoFundMe put up by close family friend Kyle Petitt, captures her character perfectly.

When Candace would travel out of town, Annabelle would put together slide decks for her siblings, laying out everyone’s responsibilities so the household would run smoothly. It was the kind of thing most adults would not think to do, let alone a child.

Thoughtful, steady, patient, and deeply loving are the words Kyle used to describe her. She was also, by every account, a wonderful big sister who cared for her siblings with quiet dedication.

A Community Rallying Around a Grieving Family

In the immediate days following Annabelle’s death, the financial reality of loss hit hard. Funeral and memorial service expenses came to around nine thousand dollars, and family members from out of state were booking last-minute flights and hotels to be present for the service held on Saturday, May 16.

All of that fell on Candace and Brandon’s shoulders at the worst possible moment.

Kyle Petitt launched a GoFundMe on May 13 with a goal of sixty thousand dollars, aiming to ease the financial burden so the family could focus entirely on grieving and being together. The response from the public was extraordinary.

Within days, the campaign surpassed its goal, raising over sixty-three thousand dollars from more than five hundred donors. Contributors ranged from close friends to strangers who had simply heard about Annabelle’s story and wanted to help.

The comments section of the GoFundMe and Amanda’s Facebook post both tell the same story: a family that is deeply loved by the people around them, mourning a girl who touched lives without even trying to.

The grief is raw and real, and the community response has matched it in equal measure.

Annabelle was 13 years old. She made slide decks for her siblings. She kept her mother grounded. She was kind. And she is already missed more than words can hold.
