What Happened to Alijah Arenas? High School Star in Serious Car Crash

Alijah Arenas is one of the best high school basketball players in the country. He is known for scoring a lot of points, making big plays, and being the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas. Many fans look up to Alijah, and he recently committed to playing for USC in college.

But on a quiet Thursday morning, something very scary happened. Alijah was in a serious car accident in Los Angeles. He had to be rushed to the hospital. People everywhere are now praying for him and hoping he gets better soon.

The Crash: What We Know So Far

According to TMZ Sports and other news sources, the crash happened early in the morning at 4:55 AM. Alijah was in his Tesla Cybertruck when it crashed in a Los Angeles neighborhood. No one knows for sure what caused the accident. But when people saw the car afterward, it was badly damaged and burned in the front.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene. They were told there was a “trapped patient,” but by the time they arrived, everyone inside the vehicle had already gotten out. That part was a miracle.

Injuries and Hospital News

Alijah was taken to the hospital right away. He was listed in serious condition. But thankfully, he had no broken bones.

The main problem was smoke inhalation, which happens when someone breathes in too much smoke from a fire. Because of that, doctors decided to put Alijah into an induced coma. This is something doctors do to help a person rest and heal better.

According to ESPN and insider Tarek Fattal, this step was taken just to help Alijah’s body recover. It does not mean he is gone. In fact, there is still hope that he will wake up soon and get better with time.

His Mom’s Message

After the crash, Alijah’s mom, Laura Govan, posted on Instagram. She asked her followers and fans to please pray for her son and send good wishes. Her message showed how serious the situation is, but also how much hope the family still has.

Thousands of people shared kind comments and prayers for Alijah. Everyone wants to see him back on his feet and back on the basketball court.

Alijah’s Basketball Journey

Alijah Arenas is not just any high school player. He’s a five-star recruit who averaged nearly:

  • 31 points per game
  • 7.8 rebounds
  • 2.8 assists

He plays like a future star. That’s why big schools like USC wanted him. He even signed a sponsorship deal with adidas, which is very rare for someone his age.

Alijah is also known for his fun personality. In an interview last year, he joked that his dad avoids playing him one-on-one because Alijah’s skills are too polished!

His Dad’s Reaction

Gilbert Arenas is a proud dad. He often talks about Alijah on his podcast called “Gil’s Arena.” But after the crash, Gilbert canceled the show. This shows how serious the situation is and how much the family is focused on Alijah’s recovery right now.
