Downtown Denver Horror: Bella Gomez Dragged Under a Drunk Driver’s Vehicle While Bystanders Just Filmed

A terrifying hit-and-run incident unfolded in downtown Denver around 2 AM when a drunk driver ran a red light and struck multiple people before attempting to flee the scene, leaving one woman trapped beneath his vehicle as he drove an entire city block with her body dragged underneath.

Thomas Mills, an eyewitness who happened to be nearby when the crash occurred, took to Facebook to share what he saw firsthand. According to his account, the driver blew through a red light and hit two women before trying to drive off as if nothing had happened.

Mills, refusing to let the man escape, chased the vehicle down the street on foot while one of the victims was still pinned under the car.

The driver only stopped because he got caught in traffic further down the road. By then, the damage was catastrophic.

Mills described having to physically lift the car alongside roughly ten police officers, nearly tipping it onto its side, just to pull the woman free from underneath.

What made the situation even more disturbing, Mills said, was the response from the crowd gathered around the scene. While the woman was still trapped and fighting for her life, bystanders stood recording the incident on their phones rather than stepping in to help.

Mills expressed raw frustration in his post, writing that not a single person stepped up to assist him in saving her life, and that only the police eventually helped once they understood the severity of what was happening.

Victim Identified, Family Urges Public to Stop Spreading False Reports

The victim has been identified as Bella Gomez, who survived the incident but remained in critical condition at the time posts circulated online.

Her family reached out to Thomas Mills directly, and he quickly posted a follow-up urging people to stop sharing posts labeling her as deceased. People had begun spreading RIP messages across social media, which the family found deeply painful while their loved one was still fighting to survive.

Mercedes Sanchez, believed to be connected to one of the other victims, also posted online, confirming that three people were hit in total.

She stated that the driver did not stop and kept going after the initial impact, and that their lives had been permanently changed by what happened. A separate post from Marco Lomeli claimed to identify the suspect as someone he personally knew through his auto detailing work, saying he had cleaned the man’s cars on multiple occasions.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Denver, with community members calling for justice and questioning why a crowd of witnesses chose to document rather than intervene.

Thomas Mills became an unlikely hero that night, one man willing to run toward danger while dozens around him stood still. Bella Gomez and the other victims remain in the thoughts of many as the community waits for accountability to follow.
