Charleston, SC Craftsman and Musician Scooda Sease Passes Away After Fatal Car Crash

Charleston, South Carolina — Scooda Sease, a beloved contractor, musician, and community figure from Charleston, South Carolina, has passed away following a sudden car accident.

The news of his death sent shockwaves through his hometown, with friends, family, and community members flooding social media with heartfelt tributes to a man remembered as much for his warmth and generosity as for his many talents.

Sease, known widely by his nickname Scooda, was a multifaceted individual who wore many hats with equal pride. A veteran who served in the military before transitioning to civilian life, he built a name for himself in Charleston as a skilled craftsman through his business, Scooda Sease Mounting Service, which specialized in TV mounting and custom woodwork.

Those who knew him personally say his abilities with his hands were something truly special. Friends joked that he could build an entire house from scratch, and while that may have been an exaggeration, said with love, nobody disputed the fact that his craftsmanship was extraordinary.

Beyond his contracting work, Sease had been actively pursuing a music career, working hard in a recording studio he had recently completed inside his home.

Just days before his death, a close collaborator had helped him finish padding, painting, and furnishing the booth. The two had plans to record a full tape together and were scheduled to meet the very day Sease passed away to sort out sound equipment. The studio never got its first official session.

A Man Who Poured Into Everyone Around Him

Those who knew Sease describe a man who gave freely of himself, his time, and his encouragement. His uncle, Marvin Sease Jr., wrote that he had lost a part of himself with the passing, calling Scooda both his nephew and his son.

He found comfort only in knowing he had always poured love into him. Friends echoed those sentiments, describing Sease as a mentor, a motivator, and a brother figure to many in the community.

Sease was also a father, and those closest to him have asked for particular prayers for his daughters. One community member, reflecting on the kind of man he was, wrote specifically about his girls and prayed that they would find strength in knowing their father had lived a full and loving life.

His Facebook profile, which had amassed more than 12,000 followers, described him simply as a contractor, musician, and seafood lover. His partner, Quaniesha Tashea, who friends say had finally found happiness, love, and stability in her relationship with Sease, is among those leaning most heavily on the support of the community during this time.

His family released a public statement asking that visitors hold off while they grieve privately, and noted that funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date. The statement read in part that Sease was forever loved, forever missed, and forever in their hearts.

Sease graduated from Summerville High School and spent his adult years building something meaningful in Charleston, both literally and figuratively. He was too young, too talented, and by every account, too full of life. The community he leaves behind is grieving loudly and loving him just as loudly.
