Castle Hill, Texas, Carlos Mugica and Wife Jennifer Passed Away Together in Sudden Accident, Leaving Two Daughters Behind
The San Antonio area is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of Carlos M. Mugica and his wife Jennifer Salazar Mugica, who both passed away together in an accident. The news sent shockwaves through the tight-knit communities they touched, from real estate circles to the beloved Rey Feo Consejo network that had long counted Carlos among its most devoted members.
Friends and acquaintances across social media described the loss as incomprehensible.
“Shock over tears is how I can describe hearing of your wife Jennifer and you passing away today from an accident,” wrote David Umphlett, a close friend who had known Carlos since their days studying together at Champions School of Real Estate.
The two had later worked side by side at Keller Williams before Carlos found his professional home at JPAR Real Estate in Greater San Antonio, where he had been serving clients since late 2019.
Those who knew Carlos personally remembered him as someone with an unmistakable presence. The Fiesta Medal Maniacs, a San Antonio community group, shared a heartfelt tribute describing how Carlos filled any room he entered with his energy and laughter.
Friends recalled his love of the New York Yankees, his running jokes about craft beers versus Ultras, and his habit of calling people for no particular reason other than to check in. Small details that painted the picture of a man who genuinely invested in the people around him.
Yolanda Valenzuela, who knew the couple well, noted that Carlos had served on the Rey Feo Court 77 and had been a significant presence on Court 75 as well. He was also deeply active with the Rey Feo Consejos, a scholarship and civic organization that has been a cornerstone of San Antonio culture for decades. “He was a huge force,” she wrote, adding that the community had lost two people who were loved by so many.
Umphlett reflected on one particular regret that seemed to resonate with many who read his tribute. When Carlos and a mutual friend named Ozzie had urged him to join the Court, Umphlett had brushed it off, saying there was plenty of time. “Unfortunately I was wrong,” he wrote, a quiet reminder of how suddenly life can change.
Prayers for Two Daughters Left Behind
As condolences continued to pour in from across San Antonio and beyond, friends repeatedly turned their thoughts to the couple’s two daughters.
Lisa Bonanni, who described receiving the news as devastating, asked her own network to keep the girls, along with the broader family and friends, in their prayers. Paul Ledesma, another longtime friend, called Carlos a great friend who was gone far too soon and extended his prayers directly to the daughters and extended family.
Carlos and Jennifer had been married since November 2021 and resided in Castle Hills, Texas. By all accounts, they were a couple deeply woven into the fabric of their community, whether through real estate work, civic involvement, or simply showing up for the people they cared about.
The outpouring of grief across social media made one thing clear: Carlos and Jennifer Mugica did not just occupy space in this community. They helped build it.
