Cincinnati Pitcher Brian Boone, 32, of Florence Y’Alls Dies Unexpectedly

Brian Robert Boone, a 32-year-old former professional baseball pitcher from Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2026, leaving behind a community of family, friends, and teammates who loved him deeply.

Born on January 18, 1994, Brian grew up in a close and loving family. He graduated from Indian Hill High School in 2012 before going on to attend Wittenberg University and Miami University in Ohio.

He channeled his passion for baseball throughout his academic years, eventually making it to the professional level as a pitcher for the Florence Y’Alls, a professional baseball team based in Florence, Kentucky.

His former coach, Doug Adams, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media that captured the kind of person Brian was both on and off the field. Adams described Brian as one of the best players he ever coached, praising his character, his coachability, and the way everyone around him genuinely loved him.

Adams recalled two defining moments that said everything about who Brian Boone was as a competitor. One came in Noblesville, where Brian recorded a massive out to help clinch a championship.

The other came in Columbus, when the opposing dugout tried to get in his head. Brian simply smiled, laughed it off, and delivered.

Their last conversation took place on May 12th. Even then, Brian was not talking about himself.

He was bragging about a younger player from the program doing big things, thrilled to see the next generation carrying the tradition forward. That generosity of spirit, according to those who knew him, was entirely on brand.

A Life Built on Kindness and Quiet Strength

Beyond the diamond, Brian was remembered as someone with a kind heart, a quick wit, and a rare ability to make people feel seen and supported.

Whether he was offering a steady hand or simply listening, he had a gift for showing up for others in ways that left a lasting impression.

He is survived by his parents, David and Gail Boone, along with his siblings Kevin Boone, Matthew Boone, Michelle Kenealy, and her husband Danny. He is also survived by his cherished nephew Cole Kenealy, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins who will carry his memory forward.

The outpouring of grief on social media in the days following his passing reflected the wide reach of his impact. Former teammates, coaches, and friends from different chapters of his life came together to share their shock and sorrow. Many simply could not find the words.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Armstrong Chapel in Cincinnati, followed by a celebration of life at 12:30 p.m. at Kenwood Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking those who wish to honor Brian to consider making a donation to the SPCA, a cause that reflects the warmth and compassion he showed throughout his life.
