Bonnyville, Alberta, Brandon James Paskaluk, 17, Passes Away, Leaving His Parents Carissa and Clayton
The community of Bonnyville, Alberta, is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Brandon James Paskaluk, a 17-year-old young man who passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026.
His family announced his passing with heavy hearts, describing a son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin who left this world far too soon.
Brandon was known to those closest to him as someone with a genuinely kind heart, a strong sense of determination, and a deep love for his family.
He was the kind of person who made an impression on the people around him, and his absence is being felt across his family and community in profound ways.
He is survived by his mother, Carissa Paskaluk of Edmonton; his father, Clayton Paskaluk and stepmother Amanda Paskaluk of Bonnyville; his brothers Dean Graves (Kelsy), Nathan Paskaluk and Luke Paskaluk, all of Bonnyville; his sister Isabella Soloway of Bonnyville; and his paternal grandparents Michael Paskaluk and Ellen Kaulback of Bonnyville.
Brandon is also survived by his uncle Stephen Paskaluk and Suzanne Cunningham of Edmonton; cousins Allison and Caitlin Paskaluk of Edmonton; great-grandmother Lorraine Reeve; step-grandfather Edwin Reeve; great aunt Janet Iley and Dan Speth; great aunt Connie Paskaluk and Larry Spiess; and great uncles Ed and Verna Landry, and Gary Landry and Tracy Ojala.
In death, Brandon reunites with his paternal grandmother, Sylvia Paskaluk; his paternal great-grandparents Nick and Mary Paskaluk, his great-grandfather Joffre Landry, and his uncle Martin Landry.
A Community Gathers to Say Goodbye
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Genmec ACL Hall in Bonnyville, with Pastor Ron Hewitt officiating.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Paskaluk, Michael Paskaluk, Dean Graves, Houston Babb, Colton Babb, and Stephen Paskaluk. Cremation will follow the service.
Friends and community members who have seen the announcement on social media have already begun sharing their condolences. Comments expressing grief and sympathy have poured in from people who knew Brandon and those touched by the family’s loss.
One comment simply read, “Will forever be remembered,” a sentiment echoed by many who have responded since the announcement was made.
