A Velpen, Indiana, woman lost her life on the morning of May 27, 2026, after her SUV ran off the road and struck a guardrail on State Road 57 in Daviess County.
The crash, which occurred near County Road 575 South in the Sandy Hook Curve area, claimed the life of Amanda John, age 50, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received the call at approximately 11:27 in the morning reporting a vehicle that had hit a guardrail.
Responding deputies found John’s white 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe had traveled off the west side of the roadway before striking the guardrail and coming to rest in a deep ditch along the rural stretch of road.
