Shooter Still on the Loose After Opening Fire Inside Desert Sky Mall, 2 Hospitalized

A Tuesday evening outing at Desert Sky Mall turned violent when gunfire erupted inside the west Phoenix shopping center, sending two people to the hospital and sending officers scrambling to secure the scene.

The incident unfolded just before 8:30 p.m. at the mall located at 75th Avenue and Thomas Road in the Maryvale neighborhood, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded quickly to reports of an active shooting inside the mall. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims who had been struck by gunfire. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
