Rafael Devers Traded to Giants for Hicks, Harrison & More in Shocking 4-Player Deal
Rafael Devers is heading to the West Coast. The Boston Red Sox are trading their longtime third baseman to the San Francisco Giants. In return, the Giants are sending four players. The main names in this deal are pitchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison. Along with them, Jose Bello and James Tibbs are also part of the package.
Devers has been a star for the Red Sox for nine seasons. He helped the team win the World Series in 2018. He has also been selected to the All-Star team three times. He won Silver Slugger awards in 2021 and 2023. In 2025, Devers is having a strong year. He’s hitting .271 with a .400 on-base percentage and a .494 slugging percentage. He already has 14 home runs and 57 RBIs.
But all hasn’t been smooth lately. Devers had a public disagreement with the Red Sox front office. He wasn’t happy with how the team handled the signing of Alex Bregman. That made things awkward in the clubhouse. It looked like it was time for both sides to move on.
Still, Devers is too valuable to just give away. So the Red Sox made sure they got a big return. Kyle Harrison is a young left-handed pitcher with great potential. Jordan Hicks brings experience and speed to the bullpen. Jose Bello is a promising arm. James Tibbs adds power as a designated hitter or corner outfielder.
The Red Sox need help in many spots. This deal gives them pieces to fill those gaps. For the Giants, this is a bold move. Devers gives their lineup more power and playoff push potential. It’s a gamble, but one that could change the path for both teams this season.
