Punjabi Actor-Comedian Jaswinder Bhalla Passes Away at 65

The Punjabi entertainment industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla. Best known for his unforgettable role as Advocate Dhillon in the Carry On Jatta franchise, Bhalla passed away at the age of 65 in the early hours of Friday, August 22, at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.

Cause of Death

According to a report by BBC Punjabi, Bhalla’s close friend and longtime collaborator from Chhankata, Balmukund Sharma, confirmed the tragic news. He revealed that Bhalla had suffered a brain stroke on Wednesday evening and was immediately admitted to Fortis Hospital. Despite urgent medical attention, doctors said the actor had lost a significant amount of blood and could not be saved.

Last Rites

The last rites of the celebrated comedian will take place on August 23 at noon at the Balongi cremation ground in Mohali. Family members, close friends, and colleagues from the film fraternity are expected to gather and bid farewell to the legendary artist.

A Legacy of Laughter

Jaswinder Bhalla was widely loved for his sharp wit and impeccable comic timing. Though rooted in Punjabi cinema, his popularity transcended regional boundaries. Fans fondly remember his collaborations with Jaspal Bhatti in the Hindi comedy Mahaul Theek Hai (1999), which showcased his versatility beyond Punjabi films.

Bhalla began his acting journey with Dulha Batti and went on to become one of the most recognizable faces in Punjabi comedy. His performances in blockbuster franchises like Jatt and Juliet and Carry On Jatta cemented his legacy. His iconic line, “Advocate Dhillon ne kala coat aiwi ni paya,” continues to bring smiles to audiences even today.

A Star Till the End

In recent years, Bhalla appeared in films like Shinda Shinda No Papa alongside Gippy Grewal and Hina Khan, as well as Carry On Jatta 3, where once again he brought his signature charm to the screen.

The passing of Jaswinder Bhalla is a huge loss to Indian cinema. His work, filled with humor and heart, will continue to live on in the laughter of generations to come.
