Macon’s Beloved Trivia Host and Float Daze Organizer Robert Jackson, 36, Killed in Bass Road Crash, Leaves Behind Wife and Two Sons
The Macon community is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of 36-year-old Robert Jackson, who died Monday morning following a devastating crash on Bass Road. Known and loved by so many throughout the city, Robert leaves behind his wife Jackie and their two young sons, Noah, 8, and Lucas, 3.
Robert was not just a familiar face in Macon. He was a connector, a community builder, and someone who had a genuine gift for making people feel welcome wherever he went.
Many knew him as the energetic host of Trivia Night at the Hummingbird, where he turned ordinary evenings into something people looked forward to week after week.
Others knew him through Float Daze, the annual river event on the Ocmulgee that he ran and organized, giving families and friends a tradition they could count on every year. Whatever role he played in your life, the feeling was the same. Robert made you feel like you mattered.
His wife Jackie, is a well-known figure in Macon in her own right. She works at La Bella, a local Mexican restaurant in downtown Macon, where customers and coworkers have long appreciated her warmth and dedication.
Now she faces the unimaginable task of raising Noah and Lucas without their father by her side.
A Community Coming Together
In the days following the crash, the outpouring of grief from the Macon community has been overwhelming. Hundreds of people have taken to social media to share memories and offer condolences.
Kevin DeLoach, a close friend, wrote that the loss felt like losing a brother, adding simply, “I love you man.” Hundreds of others echoed similar sentiments, with many noting that Robert had a rare ability to bring people together and make them feel like family.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched by Alexia Hackett-Calderón, Jackie’s sister, to help the family cover funeral expenses, household bills, and the everyday needs of the two boys as they adjust to life without their father.
The fundraiser set a goal of $50,000 and has already received more than 135 donations, with the community responding quickly and generously in the days since Robert’s passing.
“Robert spent his life bringing people together and showing kindness to everyone he met,” Alexia wrote on the fundraiser page. “Now, we hope our community can come together to support the family he loved so deeply.”
Robert is also survived by his parents, Pete and Rebecca Jackson, and his brother Chris Jackson. His loss is being felt deeply by everyone who crossed his path, whether at a trivia table, on the river, or simply through a kind word and a genuine smile.
He was 36 years old.
For those who wish to support Jackie, Noah, and Lucas during this incredibly difficult time, the GoFundMe fundraiser is active and accepting donations.
As the family has shared, every dollar, every share, and every prayer makes a difference as they take on each day without the man who was the heart of their home.
