DeCandido wrote, “Just got the news that Peter David finally lost his rather lengthy battle with his failing physical form last night.” He recalled meeting David 35 years ago and described him as not only a respected creator but also a cherished friend and colleague. Along with the tribute, he posted a photo from Peter and Kathleen’s wedding in 2001, featuring Peter and his best man, legendary writer Harlan Ellison. In the picture, David once joked he looked like Daffy Duck next to Ellison’s Bugs Bunny, a comparison that summed up their playful friendship.

Peter David’s passing comes after a long and difficult battle with health problems. In recent years, he suffered from kidney disease, minor surgeries, and strokes. He had even been placed on a ventilator just days before his death due to breathing issues.
