Julie Bowen didn’t think Adam Sandler would ever ask her back for Happy Gilmore 2. She really thought her time as Virginia Venit was done for good. On Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, she sounded so honest about it. She said she was sure the sequel would swap her out for someone younger.

She told Rosenbaum she read for the part and the casting team looked relieved. She was confused. They explained that some actresses were too “aggressively sexy.” That’s what got her the role in the first place. Kind of ironic, right?
