Social media has gone into meltdown after multiple posts claimed that rapper and internet personality Rolling Ray has died at the age of 28. The alleged news surfaced just days before his 29th birthday, leaving fans heartbroken and confused.

According to reports, the announcement came from his mother, Sazola Nay, on her private Facebook account. However, because the post was not made public, confirmation is still pending. Despite the uncertainty, tributes have poured in across Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), where fans and fellow creators are mourning a young star who became a cultural icon for Gen Z and the LGBTQ+ community.

Rolling Ray Allegedly Found Dead

On September 3, 2025, a message allegedly written by Rolling Ray’s mother declared that the influencer had “gone home to be with the Lord.” The post did not reveal the cause or timing of his death but asked people to keep the family in their prayers.

The post read:
“It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that my son Ray Ray (@Iamrollingray) has gone home to be with the Lord… I thank everyone who has called or texted. This is going to be a long road… Please pray for us as we push forward to lay him to rest… Only God Knows.”

Who Was Rolling Ray?

Born Raymond Harper on September 5, 1996, Rolling Ray grew up in Washington, DC, and became known for his unapologetic personality, witty humour, and bold commentary. Despite living with a disability and using a wheelchair, he turned his unique circumstances into a platform for visibility and self-expression.

Ray first grabbed national attention in 2018 with an appearance on MTV’s Catfish: Trolls. He later featured on Divorce Court, where Judge Lynn Toler struggled to contain her laughter at his antics, and Zeus Network’s Bobby I Love U, Purrr. Ray is also credited with popularising the phrase “purr,” a slang expression that went viral among his Gen Z followers. On Instagram, he built a massive fan base of more than 446,000 followers.

Rolling Ray’s Health Battles

Even before the rumours of his passing, Rolling Ray had been open about his health struggles. In 2021, he suffered severe burns after his wig caught fire, an accident that required surgery and months of recovery.

The following year, he battled life-threatening COVID-19 complications that left him hospitalised and in a coma. Yet, he bounced back with his trademark humour, even going viral for declaring: “It never gave dead.”

In 2024, Ray faced another scare when pneumonia and a blood infection landed him in hospital. His oxygen levels were dangerously low, but he survived thanks to intensive medical care. Through all these challenges, he remained resilient and continued to inspire fans with his positivity and unfiltered spirit.

Fans React With Shock and Sadness

While no official confirmation has come from his family or representatives, tributes have been pouring in on social media. Fans, friends, and influencers have expressed their grief over the alleged loss.

Emmy-nominated writer and producer George M Johnson Garçon wrote on X:
“RIP Rolling Ray. Truly redefined the definition of Purrrrrr.”

A Legacy That Lives On

If the news of his death is true, Rolling Ray’s story ends far too soon. But his impact will not be forgotten. Known for calling himself the “most famous boy inna wheelchair,” Ray broke stereotypes and carved out his own space in pop culture.

From his viral catchphrases to his fearless authenticity, Rolling Ray leaves behind a legacy of resilience, laughter, and unapologetic self-expression that will continue to resonate with fans worldwide.
