Cardi B Wins Civil Assault Case: Jury Rules Rapper “Super Completely Innocent”

Rapper Cardi B has scored a major courtroom victory after a California jury unanimously cleared her of civil assault allegations. The case, brought by security guard Emani Ellis, ended with all 12 jurors siding with the music star.

What Was Cardi B Accused Of?

Ellis alleged that Cardi B—real name Belcalis Almánzar—scratched her face during a heated argument at a Beverly Hills medical building back in 2018. At the time, the rapper was pregnant with her first child.

The confrontation reportedly began when Ellis was accused of filming Cardi without permission. But after less than an hour of deliberation, jurors rejected the claims entirely.

Cardi B’s Reaction After Courtroom Victory

Speaking to reporters outside court, Cardi B was firm in her denial. “I will say it on my deathbed: I did not touch that woman. I did not lay my hands on that girl,” she said. The Grammy winner added that she was “super completely innocent” and warned she may file counterclaims in the future if faced with similar lawsuits.

Why Did the Jury Side With Cardi B?

Two jurors told Rolling Stone that Ellis’s version of events wasn’t credible. “There wasn’t any other way this could go,” one said. Another described the decision as unanimous and straightforward.

Key witnesses also supported Cardi B’s testimony. Her doctor and receptionist, who were present at the medical building, stated Ellis had her phone in hand during the entire dispute, while Cardi was backed against a wall. The rapper maintained the altercation was strictly verbal, with no physical contact.

Ellis Vows to Appeal

Despite the verdict, Ellis and her lawyer, Ron Rosen Janfaza, said they plan to appeal. Ellis told reporters she remains “firm” in her version of events and claimed the justice system had failed her.

Background of the Case

Ellis first filed the lawsuit in 2020, accusing Cardi B of assault, battery, and harassment. Some claims were later dropped, and the trial ultimately lasted four days.

What’s Next for Cardi B?

With the case behind her, Cardi B is turning her focus back to music. She’s gearing up to release her highly anticipated second studio album, Am I the Drama?, on September 19. The rapper has already notched previous legal wins in defamation and copyright lawsuits, and this latest courtroom success adds to her list of victories.
