Indianapolis Rapper, Tony Cleveland, Passes Away After Health Complications Rock Northwest Side Community

The Indianapolis community is grieving after the passing of Tony Cleveland, a beloved local figure, rapper, and community presence who died on June 3, 2026, due to health complications. Cleveland, who went by the nickname “Mr. 34th and Moller” — a nod to the Northwest Side intersection he called home — leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, authenticity, and deep roots in the city he loved.

Friends and family took to social media almost immediately after news of his passing began to spread, with tributes pouring in from across Indianapolis. His mother of his children, Shari Taylor, was among the first to address the public, asking people to pause before making assumptions. She confirmed that Cleveland was not killed, pushing back against rumors that had already begun circulating online.

“He was NOT killed based on some of the things I’m reading so please rule that scenario out,” she wrote, urging the community to give the family space and time as they processed the loss.

Cleveland’s death hit particularly hard because of the timing. His oldest son, Jeremiah, had just left for the Navy two weeks prior, and Taylor described the dread of waiting for that phone call, knowing she would have to deliver the news.

She made clear that Jeremiah, as the eldest child and next of kin, would be the one authorized to make all final decisions regarding his father, including any arrangements and the legitimacy of any fundraising efforts.

Her message was firm but full of grace — a mother protecting her son during one of the hardest moments a family can face.

A Man Who Set the Tone for Everyone Around Him

Beyond the grief, what stood out in every tribute was the picture of who Tony Cleveland was as a person. Friends described him as someone who never pretended to be anything other than himself.

Lexx Luther, who gathered with others at 34 N. Moller Road to pay respects, wrote that Cleveland infected everyone around him with his realness.

“One could only hope to be a tenth of the person that you were when it comes to being solid,” he said, adding hashtags like RestOnMoller and LongLiveTonyCleveland that quickly spread through the community.

Perhaps the most emotional tribute came from Burr Pettiford, who shared that he and Tony had been friends for 32 years, longer than most people knew. “Our mommies knew each other before we was born,” he wrote.

Pettiford, who is only 39, described how life kept them apart at times — prison, families, different paths — but the bond never broke. “He was supposed to stay alive longer than me,” he wrote. “But God has other plans. He did set the TONE and nobody better ever forget Tony.”

Fellow rapper Glock Pheddi also shared a heartfelt message, revealing that he and Tony had spoken recently on a deep level, exchanging genuine appreciation for each other.

He mentioned that Tony had recorded a final verse and vowed to release it in his memory.

“Definitely gotta give the world that last verse I got from you,” he wrote.

Local business owner Ma En added her voice to the chorus of grief, recalling how Cleveland regularly showed up to support her business and performed at several of her events. She described him as someone who brought positive energy everywhere he went and made people feel genuinely valued.

Tony Cleveland was a single man from Indianapolis who founded FOTB and built something rare — a circle of people who truly loved him. He had 7,000 followers on Facebook and a presence on Instagram under the handle TonyCleveland_.

He was not famous in the mainstream sense, but in Indianapolis, especially on the Northwest Side, he was everything. The city is worse off without him.
