High Potential Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot & Episode Count Revealed
Fans of High Potential, you’re in luck. The hit ABC crime dramedy is officially coming back for a second season. While there’s no exact premiere date just yet, ABC has confirmed that High Potential Season 2 will return as part of its Fall 2025 primetime lineup.
Production for the new season began in May, as confirmed by behind-the-scenes Instagram posts from the cast. If everything stays on schedule, fans can likely expect a full trailer to drop around late summer. That means the countdown to new episodes is already underway.
What Will Happen in High Potential Season 2?
Season 2 will jump straight into the chaos that unfolded in the Season 1 finale. We last saw Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) face off with a dangerous new villain, played by Grimm alum David Giuntoli. His character, David Peck, is intelligent, methodical, and sinister—a true match for Morgan’s deductive skills.
Actor Deniz Akdeniz, who plays Oz, teased that the new episodes waste no time diving into this suspenseful arc. “There’s a serial killer or a game player out on the loose that we have to really resolve,” he revealed. Co-star Javicia Leslie also hinted that the season will center on a tense manhunt to catch the mystery figure.
Other ongoing threads will also return, including Selena Soto’s mission to track down Morgan’s ex, Roman. So expect a healthy dose of personal and professional drama to balance out the case-of-the-week format.
Who’s Coming Back for Season 2?
Much of the beloved cast from Season 1 will be back, including:
- Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory
- Daniel Sunjata as Adam Karadec
- Javicia Leslie as Daphne Forrester
- Judy Reyes as Selena Soto
- Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Osman
Morgan’s kids, Ava (Amirah J) and Elliott (Matthew Lamb), are expected to return as well, although their appearances haven’t been officially confirmed.
One key cast member not returning is JD Pardo’s Tom, who exited the show in the Season 1 finale to go to nursing school. However, new and returning faces will keep things fresh. Showrunner Todd Harthan teased more recurring roles and even a possible comeback for Jocko Sims as Ronnie Oliver. Giuntoli’s villain, of course, is expected to be front and center.
How Many Episodes Are in Season 2?
ABC is increasing the episode count for Season 2. Instead of the 13 episodes we got in Season 1, fans will get 18 brand-new installments this time around. That means more time with Morgan, more twists, and way more crime-solving chaos.
