Halle Bailey Accuses Ex DDG of Abuse, Granted Temporary Restraining Order to Protect Herself and Baby Son

In a heartbreaking development that shocked fans around the world, The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey has accused her ex-boyfriend DDG of abuse and has been granted a temporary restraining order against him. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday, May 13, the order also protects the former couple’s infant son, Halo Saint Granberry.

This legal move comes after Bailey shared detailed claims of verbal and emotional abuse in a declaration filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The court granted the restraining order, citing Bailey’s allegations of repeated harm and threats from her ex, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry.

What’s in the Restraining Order?

The temporary restraining order requires DDG to stay more than 100 yards away from both Bailey and their son Halo at all times. This includes locations like Halo’s school and Bailey’s car. DDG, known for his work as a rapper and Twitch streamer, is now legally prohibited from having any contact with Bailey or their child.

Bailey and DDG began dating in 2022 and welcomed their son in December 2023. The relationship ended in 2024, but court filings reveal the trauma continued even after their split.

Allegations Detailed by Bailey

Bailey didn’t hold back in her declaration. She described years of controlling and harmful behavior. She wrote, “I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer.”

She claimed that DDG frequently insulted her, calling her “a bitch” and “evil” even in front of their child. Bailey also said he used his large fanbase on social media to harass her. According to her, DDG often accused her of withholding their son and cheating, encouraging followers to attack her online.

“He goes live ranting about me and alleges that I am keeping Halo from him. This is false. I have requested a set schedule, which he refuses,” she wrote.

Evidence Submitted to Court

Bailey didn’t just provide words. She submitted photos and a text message as evidence of the alleged abuse. The court documents include a picture showing a chipped front tooth and a bruised bicep, which she says resulted from earlier violent incidents involving DDG.

In a text message dated Sunday, May 11, Bailey pleaded with DDG to stop the harassment. She wrote, “Darryl, are u not tired of harassing me?… please let me enjoy my mother’s day in peace.” She explained she was in St. Lucia with her sister Chloe Bailey and friend Shermay, not with any man as DDG had accused.

Bailey told the court that she filed a police report in March. In that report, she claimed DDG came to her home even after she told him she and Halo were sick with RSV and needed to remain isolated. She alleged he screamed profanities, damaged her Ring camera, and tried to take their son without her consent.

Bailey’s Requests to the Court

Alongside the restraining order, Bailey has asked the court for full custody of Halo while she films a new project in Italy for two months starting June 7. She explained she will have her family and a nanny traveling with her to care for her son.

She also requested that the court stop DDG from discussing her or Halo on social media platforms like YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). She said his online rants have led to serious emotional harm and safety concerns.

“He creates a fan frenzy by making false claims about me. This has caused me to feel afraid and victimized. His fans then threaten me. I am often scared for my life and Halo’s safety,” she explained. One online hashtag, #FreeHalo, has made her feel especially unsafe.

Bailey also asked the judge to require DDG to enroll in a Batterer Intervention Program and to show proof that he has completed the 52-week course.

What Happens Next?

A court hearing has been scheduled for June 4 to address the restraining order and other matters, including Bailey’s request for custody and DDG’s online behavior.

PEOPLE reports that they have reached out to attorneys for both parties, but no public responses have been shared yet. TMZ was the first outlet to report the story.

Fans of Halle Bailey have rallied around her, sending love and support as she navigates this difficult chapter. The allegations are serious, the emotional toll is heavy, and the legal battle appears far from over.

As the legal process unfolds, one thing is clear: Halle Bailey is standing up for herself and her son. She’s using the tools available to protect her family, while also speaking her truth in the face of fear and controversy.
