Fake Photo of Charlie Kirk’s Suspect Tyler Robinson in Trump T-Shirt Goes Viral

A photo claiming to show Charlie Kirk’s accused assassin, Tyler Robinson, in a Trump T-shirt is going viral on social media. Many users shared the image while alleging that the 22-year-old supported Donald Trump’s 2020 and 2024 campaigns.

Robinson, a Utah local, has been identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at a university event on Wednesday. He was arrested on Friday.

Officials say Robinson criticized Kirk to relatives, claiming he “spread hatred,” while also discussing rifles on Discord and engraving racist slogans on bullet casings.

What Authorities Have Said

Utah Governor Spencer Cox and FBI Director Kash Patel addressed the press after Robinson’s arrest. They confirmed he was booked on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, and obstruction of justice.

A judge has ordered Robinson to be held without bail as the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet commented on the viral Trump T-shirt photos.

For now, officials are focusing on evidence such as bullet casings, Robinson’s online activity, and his family’s statements.

The Trump T-Shirt Claims

Social media erupted after the images circulated, with many insisting Robinson was a Trump supporter. One user even claimed he “dressed up as DonOLD for Halloween.”

However, closer examination revealed that the images had been digitally altered. Some of Robinson’s real social media pictures were edited to add the Trump shirt.

Fact-checkers have since debunked the images, confirming that the viral photos are fake.

The Viral Spread of Misinformation

X commentator Collin Rugg pointed out how quickly the fake images spread. He noted that one account with over 5 million followers shared the edited photo, which got 400,000 impressions in just an hour.

In contrast, the corrected photo shared in the same thread only reached 50,000 views. The fake image remains online, continuing to fuel confusion.

The incident highlights how misinformation spreads faster than verified facts, especially during high-profile political tragedies.

Robinson’s Political and Voting Records

Despite online speculation, Utah voter records show Robinson is registered but unaffiliated with any political party.

He is listed as inactive, meaning he had not voted in either of the last two general elections. This record contradicts claims that he was an active Trump campaign supporter.

Court filings also confirm Robinson has no prior criminal cases on record at either the state or federal level.
