Diddy Trial Update: Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard Set to Testify Friday

The high-profile sex trafficking and abuse trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs continues to unfold, and a new key witness is expected to take the stand. Dawn Richard, a former member of Danity Kane and Diddy – Dirty Money, is scheduled to testify on Friday, May 16, once questioning of Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie is complete.

Dawn, now 41, was one of the breakout stars from MTV’s Making the Band series, where she first worked under Diddy’s management. But behind the scenes, her relationship with the music mogul took a dark turn. In 2024, Dawn filed a lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of groping, assaulting, and imprisoning her, and also claiming she witnessed acts of violence against other women close to him.

Dawn Richard Alleges Years of Abuse and Witnessed Violence

According to her lawsuit, Dawn says she witnessed several violent incidents involving Diddy, including a moment in 2009 when she allegedly saw him throw Cassie against a wall, choke her, and drag her up a flight of stairs inside his Los Angeles home. She also described a disturbing scene from 2005, where she saw Kim Porter, another one of Diddy’s ex-girlfriends, crying and visibly bruised after leaving a recording studio.

These allegations are not only shocking but may also support the testimony given earlier by Cassie, who is seen as one of the prosecution’s star witnesses. Prosecutor Maurene Comey confirmed that Dawn will be called to testify next, likely adding even more weight to the growing case against Combs.

The court proceedings are scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. ET on Friday. Legal analysts expect Dawn’s testimony to be pivotal, given her long-standing professional ties to Diddy and her firsthand account of multiple alleged incidents.

What to Expect Next in the Sean “Diddy” Combs Trial

This is now the fourth day of testimony in a trial that has already captured nationwide attention. Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include sex trafficking, racketeering, assault, and conspiracy. His legal team has denied all claims brought forward by his former collaborators and associates.

Dawn Richard’s voice adds to a growing list of women who have come forward with serious accusations. Alongside Cassie and Aubrey O’Day, Dawn is one of the most prominent figures to publicly speak out, breaking years of silence surrounding their time working under Diddy’s label, Bad Boy Records.

With the courtroom set for another emotional day of testimony, Friday could mark a turning point in the trial.
