Diane Lane’s Thriller ‘Anniversary’ Gets Trailer And Release Date
Diane Lane is returning to the big screen with Anniversary, a tense thriller drama directed by acclaimed Polish filmmaker Jan Komasa. The film will be released by Lionsgate on October 29, 2025.
The screenplay is written by Lori Rosene-Gambino, who also co-created the story with Komasa. According to the official synopsis shared on Letterboxd, Anniversary follows:
“A close-knit family is torn apart as a new movement known as The Change envelops the country.”
Trailer release
On August 19, 2025, Lionsgate unveiled the official trailer for Anniversary. Running for 2 minutes and 24 seconds, the trailer opens with Liz (Phoebe Dynevor) rehearsing a cheerful anniversary message in front of a mirror. The focus then shifts to Ellen (Diane Lane) and Paul (Kyle Chandler) celebrating their special day surrounded by loved ones.
Soon, the mood darkens. Ellen voices her concerns about Liz, pointing out her radical ideologies. With Liz revealed to be dating Ellen’s son, tensions rise, and the family starts to unravel. The trailer teases a gripping drama of loyalty, ideology, and fractured bonds.

In an interview with People magazine, Diane Lane praised the project.
“I’m grateful for this powerful, timely story and the inspiring, generous cast who brought it to life. Jan Komasa’s brilliant direction of Lori Rosene-Gambino’s script holds a mirror to our national identity crisis through the lens of one family. I’m so proud of my Anniversary family!”
Lane was last heard voicing Riley’s mom in Pixar’s Inside Out 2, which released in 2024.
About the director
Jan Komasa has made a name for himself internationally with films like Suicide Room, Warsaw 44, The Hater, and the Oscar-nominated Corpus Christi. Shooting for Anniversary began in Dublin in July 2023 but faced delays due to the Hollywood actors-writers strike. With a special waiver in place, filming was completed successfully.
Anniversary will hit theatres worldwide on October 29, 2025.
