Colin Egglesfield Illness: Colin Egglesfield Shares Cancer Diagnosis for a Third Time

Actor Colin Egglesfield, beloved for his roles in All My Children and Something Borrowed, has once again shown his unbreakable spirit as he shared that he’s been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. At 52 years old, the actor has faced this battle head-on, using his platform to inspire others and advocate for proactive healthcare.

A Third Cancer Diagnosis

Egglesfield took to Instagram this week to reveal his diagnosis of prostate cancer and the steps he’s taken to combat it. “Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early, and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few healthcare professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery,” he wrote. The surgery, which he recently underwent, went well, according to his doctors. He is now on the road to recovery, determined to emerge stronger than ever.

This isn’t Egglesfield’s first encounter with cancer. Back in 2006, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, a rare condition that struck him not once but twice. Despite undergoing surgeries and facing staggering odds—only 5% of cases involve cancer spreading to both testicles—Egglesfield beat the disease and was declared cancer-free. Until now.

The Importance of Advocacy and Early Detection

In his heartfelt Instagram post, Egglesfield emphasized the importance of advocating for one’s health and getting regular checkups. He credits his decision to have his PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels checked with saving his life. Egglesfield urged his followers, particularly men, to prioritize their health and seek help when needed. “You’re not alone with whatever you’re facing,” he reminded his audience.

Egglesfield’s battle with cancer has also inspired him to take an active role in supporting others. He’s set to lead City of Hope’s Cancer Fighters program next month, offering guidance and encouragement to those navigating similar challenges. “Let’s go! You’re not alone!” he wrote, reinforcing his commitment to being a beacon of hope for others.

Finding Strength in Family and Community

Throughout his journey, Egglesfield has leaned heavily on his family and friends for support. Raised in a close-knit family in Michigan, Colin credits his upbringing and strong family ties with helping him stay grounded. His parents, Kathleen and William Egglesfield, and his two siblings have always been a source of strength for him.

Now, at 52, Egglesfield continues to inspire those around him with his resilience. While he tends to keep his personal life private, his openness about his cancer journey has brought him closer to his fans and community. This shared vulnerability has turned him into more than just an actor; he’s a role model for perseverance and positivity.

Colin Egglesfield’s Career and Net Worth

Colin Egglesfield first rose to fame in the early 2000s with his role as Josh Madden on the iconic soap opera All My Children. From there, he transitioned to primetime television, starring in shows like Melrose Place and Rizzoli & Isles. One of his most memorable roles came in 2011, when he starred alongside Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin in the romantic comedy Something Borrowed.

In addition to his acting career, Egglesfield is an entrepreneur and motivational speaker. He’s the author of Agile Artist: Life Lessons from Hollywood and Beyond, a memoir that combines personal stories with practical advice for overcoming life’s challenges. His diverse career endeavors, combined with his acting success, have earned him an estimated net worth of $3 million as of 2025.

A Message of Resilience and Hope

Egglesfield’s approach to life’s challenges is as inspiring as it is empowering. In his Instagram post, he shared a quote from an interview he gave when he was just 25: “It’s not the hand that you’ve been dealt because you can’t change that. It’s how you play the cards that counts.” This mindset has been his guiding principle through three cancer diagnoses and countless other challenges.

While he acknowledged the emotional toll of his journey, Egglesfield also emphasized the importance of living life to the fullest. “Tomorrow is never guaranteed,” he said. “Having that surgery just reminded me for the third freaking time going through this cancer journey that tomorrow is not guaranteed.” His message is clear: cherish every moment, surround yourself with amazing people, and never stop striving for your dreams.
