‘Chicago Fire’ Says Goodbye to Another Cast Member Before Season 14
Chicago Fire fans are bracing for more big changes ahead of Season 14. Just weeks after saying goodbye to two fan-favorite characters, the show is now losing another familiar face. Michael Bradway, who played Jack Damon — the younger half-brother of Kelly Severide — will not be returning in the upcoming season.
The news was confirmed on July 17, with Bradway already sharing what’s next for him. On Instagram, he revealed he’s joined the cast of Every Year After, Prime Video’s adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After.
Why is Michael Bradway leaving?
Bradway’s departure appears to be tied to his new role in Every Year After, where he’ll play Charlie, a central character in the romantic drama. In his announcement, he wrote, “Couldn’t be more excited to be your Charlie,” adding a boat emoji that fans of the book will recognize.
While he’s not officially exiting the Chicago Fire universe forever, producers have confirmed that he won’t be part of Season 14. They’ve left the door open for a possible return in the future if scheduling allows.
Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from reacting strongly online. For many, it’s a frustrating reminder that the Chicago Fire cast keeps shifting.
Who else is leaving?
Bradway’s exit comes shortly after the confirmed departures of Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri, who played Sam Carver and Darren Ritter. Both actors had become regulars and were seen as important parts of Firehouse 51.
Though showrunner Andrea Newman suggested they might pop up again in the future, their roles as series regulars have officially ended. That’s three significant characters gone in a short span.
Fans have taken to the comments to share their feelings. One person wrote, “I really liked all 3. This is disappointing.” Another added, “I’d rather they keep who they have instead of adding new characters.”
Many expressed concern that the show’s growing list of character exits is starting to hurt its consistency. One comment read, “Please get this show more stable characters!” Another said, “Too much turnover on shows now. It’s hard to stay invested.”
Will there be new cast additions?
Yes. While some fans are sad about the exits, others have pointed out that Chicago Fire has a history of introducing new characters. Brandon Larracuente is one of the most recent additions to the cast, but not everyone is sold.
One fan posted, “Not liking the changes: he’s out and he’s in. Adding someone unknown to replace those not invited back makes me not want to attend.”
That said, some viewers are staying optimistic. As one fan put it, “To be fair, not gonna miss the guy,” suggesting that while Jack Damon’s storyline was interesting, he hadn’t quite earned the same loyalty as others.
As Season 14 gears up, fans are left wondering what direction the show will take and whether these cast changes will help or hurt the long-running series. Either way, one thing is clear — Chicago Fire is moving forward, even if some favorite faces won’t be coming along.
