Are Eric Dane & Rebecca Gayheart Back Together? What He Revealed During His ALS Fight

In April this year, Eric Dane shared a heartbreaking update. The actor best known for Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria revealed he had been diagnosed with ALS, a disease with no cure. It was a moment that shook his fans and the Hollywood community.

In his recent sit-down interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, Dane opened up about his condition. He’s already lost function in his right arm. His left side is slowly weakening too. ALS is a tough battle, and it’s clear he’s already fighting through many of its challenges.

But this interview also gave a peek into something just as important as his health — his relationship with actress Rebecca Gayheart.

A complicated past, a powerful present

Dane and Gayheart got married back in 2004. Over the years, they welcomed two daughters, Billie Beatrice, now 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13. But in 2018, after 14 years of marriage, Gayheart filed for divorce. The reason listed was irreconcilable differences. Their separation date was left as “TBD.”

Despite that filing, there never seemed to be bad blood. Back then, Dane had said their focus would remain on their daughters. They promised to co-parent with love and respect.

Then came an unexpected update in 2025. Rebecca Gayheart filed a request to dismiss the divorce. It happened in March, during a time when Dane was already dealing with his ALS diagnosis.

Still together? Looks like it

So what’s the status now? Are they back together?

While neither has officially confirmed they’re a couple again, the interview gave a clear sense that they’re close. Diane Sawyer introduced Gayheart as someone who was once separated from Dane, but now stands close by his side.

Dane himself got emotional when asked about her. “I talk to her every day,” he said. “She is my biggest champion. My most stalwart supporter. And I lean on her.” Those words didn’t need labels. The love and trust between them was obvious.

Family is everything right now

What shines through is how united they are as a family. Dane’s main priority now is spending time with Billie and Georgia. His words were raw but full of warmth. This isn’t about titles or what people call their relationship. It’s about showing up for each other.

Even during one of the hardest chapters of his life, Dane is holding onto the things that matter — family, connection, and support.

His wife, or former wife, or closest friend — whatever Gayheart is called now — is clearly still the person he leans on the most. And that says a lot.
