LEA COUNTY, N.M. — Family, friends, and members of the Lovington community are grieving this week following the death of Chadwick Taylor, 49, who was killed in a motorcycle crash on the morning of Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
According to the Lea County Sheriff’s Office, deputies with the Traffic Unit were dispatched at approximately 10:16 a.m. to the area of West Gum Street and Ashly Lane after reports of a motorcycle crash.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found an adult male lying in the roadway along Gum Street. A short distance away, off the north side of the road, investigators located a burnt orange Harley Davidson motorcycle that had sustained significant damage.
The man was later identified as Chadwick Taylor, a 49-year-old resident of Lovington. He was pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that its Traffic Unit responded to the scene and has taken over the investigation into how the crash occurred.
