Lil Nas X Arrested in Los Angeles After Alleged Altercation With Police
Grammy-winning rapper and singer Lil Nas X has been arrested in Los Angeles, according to inmate records from the LA County Sheriff’s Department.
The “Industry Baby” hitmaker, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was reportedly found early Thursday morning in Studio City on Ventura Boulevard, public information officer Charles Miller confirmed.
“Upon arrival the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer,” Miller said in a statement.
Currently, Lil Nas X is being held at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys. His representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
From Viral Fame to Global Spotlight
Lil Nas X first skyrocketed to fame in 2018 with his viral hit Old Town Road, a country-rap crossover featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. The song became a global sensation and cemented his place as both a bold artist and cultural provocateur.
Over the years, the 25-year-old has remained in the spotlight not only for his chart-topping music but also for pushing boundaries in style, identity, and performance.
Past Struggles and Open Conversations
In a 2020 interview with Variety, Lil Nas X opened up about the personal battles he faced as his career took off. He reflected on the loss of fellow young artists Nipsey Hussle, XXXTentacion, and Juice Wrld, as well as the passing of his grandmother in 2018.
“So much happened during my rise. You know, drugs and murders,” he shared. “And my grandmother passing — she was the first person close to me who died. It was devastating. And it made me a hypochondriac: I’d wake up, heart racing. It was scary.”
The rapper also admitted he turned to heavy marijuana use to cope. “But then I started feeling more connected with the universe, and taking everything as a sign,” he added.
