Justin Trudeau And Katy Perry’s Rumored Romance Reportedly Cools Off

According to sources, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was “not prepared” for the spotlight that came with his rumored romance with pop star Katy Perry.

The buzz around the pair started after they were spotted having dinner together in Montreal last month. However, a new report suggests the relationship may have fizzled out before it even began.

Busy schedules and spotlight pressure

As reported by the Daily Mail via Page Six, the short-lived spark between Trudeau and Perry has “cooled off” largely because of their hectic schedules and Trudeau’s discomfort with the intense public attention. Their communication has also slowed down in the past two weeks.

“She’s busy, he’s busy. They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off. But there’s nothing negative about it. They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it has cooled off,” a source revealed.

The insider also shared that the two were texting “nonstop” in July, but Trudeau wasn’t happy when photos of their first outing went public. “It was a first date. A first date! And suddenly it became a huge thing, which is not what he wanted. It can be overwhelming,” the source explained.

Another source told the outlet that as of now, Perry, 40, and Trudeau, 53, are just friends. Perry is reportedly not ready to jump into a new relationship as she is still focused on healing from her recent split with actor Orlando Bloom.

Speculation about the duo started when Trudeau attended Perry’s sold-out Lifetimes Tour concert at the Bell Centre in Montreal after they were seen having dinner together. At that time, PEOPLE had quoted a source saying that the two shared an “instant connection,” but any possible romance was in its very early stages.

Trudeau announced his separation from wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three children together: sons Xavier, 17, and Hadrien, 11, and daughter Ella-Grace, 16.
