The renewal news dropped back in March when Apple TV+ confirmed that the beloved soccer comedy would return. At the time, Jason Sudeikis — who plays the endlessly optimistic Coach Lasso — offered a teaser that hints at more risk-taking and emotional growth.

At the premiere, she shared that she took on the role for one very sweet reason — her daughter. “She’s just about to turn 11, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m a pretty cool mom right now,” Waddingham said with a laugh.
