Marvel Rivals Season 3 Release Date: Phoenix, New Map, and Big Updates

Marvel Rivals is back with more cosmic chaos, and Season 3 looks ready to shake things up for every hero shooter fan out there. Marvel and NetEase just confirmed that The Abyss Awakens — yes, that’s the dramatic new season name — lands on July 11. If you’re itching for fresh maps, new heroes and special team-ups, this update might be your next obsession.

Fans have been waiting for word on what’s next for Marvel Rivals. Now we know the big headline: the Phoenix is joining the fight. Not just any version either — this timeline has Jean Grey and the Phoenix fully merged, bringing all that unstoppable cosmic firepower with them.

What’s Special About the Phoenix in Season 3?

In the new story, the Phoenix senses a darkness out at the universe’s edge. Some deep, scary force has been twisting gods into something awful. Jean and the Phoenix don’t wait for it to show up at Earth’s doorstep. They decide to dive into that abyss and burn the corruption out at the root.

Gameplay-wise, the Phoenix is a Duelist-type hero. So expect her to drop into battles with all that raw power we’ve seen in comics and movies — flames, psychic force, maybe a hint of that famous Phoenix rage when enemies push too hard.

What Else Is New In Marvel Rivals Season 3?

The new map has deep Marvel lore too. It’s called Klyntar: Celestial Husk. If that name sounds familiar, it should. Klyntar is the symbiote home world — think Venom’s birthplace. Now, this map is built around the remains of a Celestial Knull once decapitated. The head drifted off and became Knowhere. The leftover body? It’s still floating above Klyntar, rotting and raining chunks onto the surface. So expect some haunting scenery mixed with cosmic wreckage.

Season 3 isn’t stopping with new maps and characters either. Blade is on the way. There’s a full mission system overhaul, fresh Team-Ups, plus a new competitive mode launching later in the season. If you’re a university student, there’s a bonus: verified students can unlock rotating costume trials every season, starting with 10 costumes and MVPs for free.

The developers also confirmed that new seasons will drop every two months. So the wait between fresh content won’t be long.

If you’re heading to San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Rivals has more in store there too. The game’s team is setting up at the Marriott Marquis with demos, panels, and free stuff. On July 25, there’s a special panel called Marvel Rivals: Hero Creation from Concept to Showcase. So if you want a peek at how your favorite heroes get built for the game, that’s your chance.

Season 3 is stacking up to be the biggest yet for Marvel Rivals. Jean Grey fans get to channel the Phoenix Force. Symbiote fans get a grim new battleground. And everyone gets new ways to test their skills in the ever-growing hero shooter world. July 11 can’t come fast enough for players ready to dive into the abyss.
