Dewey Actor Not Returning to Malcolm in the Middle
Fans of Malcolm in the Middle got some mixed feelings recently. The original cast is coming back for a new revival on Disney+, but Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey, won’t be part of it. Instead, a new actor, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, is stepping into Dewey’s shoes. This news wasn’t too shocking since Sullivan left acting years ago.
Erik Per Sullivan’s Journey After Malcolm
Erik was a big part of the show from 2000 to 2006. But after that, he quietly left the acting world around 2010 when he was just 19. Unlike many child stars, he didn’t stick around for the Hollywood lifestyle. Instead, he chose a different path.
Bryan Cranston, who played Hal, shared some interesting info about Erik on the Fly on the Wall podcast. Cranston said he actually talked to Erik about coming back for the revival. Erik was happy to hear about the show but made it clear he wasn’t interested in acting anymore. Cranston mentioned Erik hasn’t acted since he was about nine years old.
Erik’s New Chapter at Harvard
What’s Erik up to now? Cranston revealed something cool. Erik is currently studying at Harvard University. He’s really smart and is working on his master’s degree there. It’s refreshing to see someone from TV take a serious academic path like that. It sounds like he’s found a new passion that fits him better than acting.
Revival Cast and Production Update
The revival will bring back the rest of the Wilkerson family. Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson, and Justin Berfield are all returning. The new series will be a short four-episode event produced by Disney Branded Television.
Frankie Muniz recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo with Cranston and Kaczmarek when production started in April. It looks like fans will get to see the beloved characters again, just with a new Dewey. It will be interesting to see how the show updates after all these years.
