Todd and Julie Chrisley Released from Prison After Trump’s Surprise Pardon

Reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley are finally back home. The couple, known from the show Chrisley Knows Best, walked free on Wednesday after receiving a full pardon from former President Donald Trump.

Their release shocked many, especially after their 2022 convictions for fraud and tax crimes. But now, the Chrisleys are heading back to Nashville and to their family.

The Chrisleys Were Serving Serious Time

Todd was sentenced to 12 years. Julie got 7. They were both serving time at separate federal prisons — Todd in Pensacola, Florida, and Julie in Lexington, Kentucky.

The charges against them were heavy. They were found guilty of conspiring to defraud banks out of over $30 million and lying to the IRS. But even after being sentenced, they always insisted they were innocent.

A Presidential Phone Call Changed Everything

On Tuesday, their daughter Savannah Chrisley got a call. It wasn’t just any call. It was from former President Trump himself. He told her both of her parents were getting full pardons.

The next day, they were released from custody.

Savannah had been campaigning hard. She spoke at the Republican National Convention. She joined Trump’s “Women for Trump” tour. And she recently appeared on Lara Trump’s Fox News show to talk about her parents’ legal fight.

Why Did Trump Pardon Them?

The move was part of a series of controversial pardons. Trump also pardoned former Congressman Michael Grimm and former Connecticut Governor John Rowland.

Alex Little, the Chrisleys’ lawyer, said the pardon wasn’t only about guilt or innocence. It was about whether the legal process had worked the way it should have.

He said the White House believed the system failed in this case. That’s what led to the pardon.

Their Legal Team Had Argued for a New Trial

The Chrisleys had appealed their convictions. Their lawyers said the prosecution used false testimony and that the evidence wasn’t strong enough to support the charges.

While an appeals court didn’t overturn the conviction, it did say Julie’s sentence needed to be recalculated. That small win wasn’t enough. But now, thanks to the pardon, none of it matters.

Savannah Stood Her Ground

Savannah Chrisley has been in the spotlight for months. And she’s been outspoken. She says she didn’t make any deals or do anything behind the scenes to get her parents out.

“All I did was stand firm,” she told reporters. “I fought for my parents. I fought for what was right. And I fought for the people still behind bars who also deserve a second chance.”

She said this wasn’t just about her family. It was about justice.

Trump Hints at More Pardons to Come

During a White House event, Trump was asked if he’d pardon the men convicted of plotting to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020.

He didn’t say yes. But he didn’t say no either.

“I’m going to look at it,” he told reporters.

This could be just the start of another round of unexpected legal decisions.

For now, Todd and Julie Chrisley are free. Their story, which started on reality TV, just took another unbelievable turn in real life.
