Barry Keoghan Opens Up About Addiction, Loss, and Finding Peace

Barry Keoghan is sharing one of the most personal stories of his life. The 32-year-old actor, known for his roles in Saltburn and The Banshees of Inisherin, recently opened up in an interview with Hollywood Authentic about his battle with addiction and the painful past that shaped him.

Barry spoke honestly about growing up in a home affected by drugs. His mother struggled with heroin addiction and died when he was still a child. He revealed that this tragic loss had a deep impact on him and made him curious about drugs at a young age.

“I’m not in denial anymore. I understand that I do have an addiction, and I am an addict,” he told the outlet. Barry explained that accepting this truth was the first step toward healing. “You finally can move on, and learn to work with it,” he said.

A Life Full of Loss

Barry’s father also died in what he described as “similar” circumstances. Several other members of his family also passed away from overdoses. Despite the pain and tragedy around him, Barry admitted that his curiosity about drugs remained strong.

Even the birth of his son, Brando, wasn’t enough to stop him from exploring that dangerous path. “That should be enough to go, ‘OK, if I dabble here, I’m (screwed).’ But your curiosity is a powerful thing,” he said.

Hollywood Pressure and a Turning Point

Barry also shared how the pressure of Hollywood played a role. “You go to LA, you go to Hollywood, wherever the big scene is. There’s an enormous amount of pressure, and a different lifestyle that is good and bad for you,” he explained.

At one point, the situation became so serious that he showed the interviewer scars on his arms from injuries he got while high. That’s when his longtime driver, Niall, stepped in. Niall arranged for Barry to fly to a rehab center in England. That act helped save him.

A New Chapter in Life

Now, Barry says he’s in a better place. He feels more “at peace,” “present,” and “responsible” for his choices. He shared that life looks clearer now. “I’m getting to just see that haze that was once there – it’s just a bit sharper now,” he said.

He also expressed deep regret. “Mainly to myself more than anything else for all the pain I’ve put people and myself through,” he said. His message is one of self-reflection, growth, and hope for the future.

Career and Personal Life

Barry Keoghan continues to impress audiences with his acting talent. In addition to Saltburn, he stars in Hurry Up Tomorrow. He was also previously linked romantically to pop star Sabrina Carpenter, although their relationship status remains private.

Barry’s story is raw and powerful. It reminds fans that behind fame and success, real struggles can still exist. By sharing his journey, Barry Keoghan hopes others may find the strength to face their own battles too.
