Google Launches Veo 3: AI Video Generator With Built-In Audio and Dialogue
Google just stepped up its AI game with the launch of Veo 3, a powerful new video generator that can now create and include audio. The tool was announced on Tuesday and is already turning heads for going a step beyond what most other video AIs can do. Unlike OpenAI’s Sora, which focuses solely on visuals, Veo 3 allows users to generate videos with sound effects, dialogue, and even animal noises.
What Makes Veo 3 Stand Out?
According to Google DeepMind’s product vice president Eli Collins, Veo 3 can generate not only realistic video but also sound that syncs with character lips and fits the scene. It can handle both text and image prompts while respecting real-world physics and pacing. This means the tool doesn’t just create random animations. It gives users dynamic scenes that feel grounded in real environments.
Veo 3 is now available in the United States under Google’s new Ultra subscription plan, which costs $249.99 per month. This plan is clearly aimed at professional creators and tech-heavy users who want to explore the next level of generative video. Enterprise users can also access Veo 3 through Google’s Vertex AI platform, making it easier for businesses to build custom solutions.
New AI Tools Join the Launch Party
Veo 3 wasn’t the only surprise from Google. The company also launched Imagen 4, its latest image generation tool, which promises higher-quality visuals through simple user prompts. Imagen 4 aims to fix the shortcomings of its earlier version, Imagen 3, which had to be reworked after users pointed out historical inaccuracies in generated content.
Another tool Google introduced is called Flow, a filmmaker’s dream. This tool lets users create professional-looking cinematic videos just by describing the location, shot type, and style they want. Flow is accessible through Google platforms like Gemini, Whisk, Workspace, and Vertex AI.
Google also announced updates to Veo 2, which now allows users to add or remove objects in a video using only text. On top of that, its Lyria 2 music generation model is being rolled out to creators via YouTube Shorts and to businesses through Vertex AI.
AI in Video and Image Creation Is Heating Up
Google’s push into advanced video and sound generation follows a larger trend in the tech world. AI video and image tools are becoming some of the most-used features in the generative AI space. OpenAI’s image generation tool recently gained so much popularity that CEO Sam Altman said it overwhelmed their hardware.
While Google is catching up, it’s also trying to learn from past mistakes. The company received criticism last year after Imagen 3 generated false historical images. Google co-founder Sergey Brin later said the issue was caused by poor testing before launch. With the release of Imagen 4, Google is clearly trying to show that it has taken those lessons to heart.
