Allegan County, Mich.: Nathan Phillip Dennis Missing Since April, Family Desperate for Answers

Nathan Phillip Dennis

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — A family’s search for their missing loved one has stretched into its fourth week, with no word from him since mid-April.

Michigan State Police troopers say relatives reported 44-year-old Nathan Phillip Dennis missing on June 20. Family and friends from the Otsego and Plainwell area told investigators they had not seen or heard from him since April 19, a gap of more than two months before the report was even filed.

A Family’s Growing Concern

Loved ones describe Dennis’ disappearance as highly unusual, saying it does not match his normal patterns or habits. They say they are deeply concerned for his safety, given how out of character this silence has been.

Adding to the difficulty of the search, Dennis is currently unhoused, which authorities say makes tracking his movements and whereabouts more complicated than a typical missing persons case.

Investigators have not released details about where Dennis was last seen or any specific circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Michigan State Police continues to treat the case as an active investigation, and troopers are asking anyone in the community who may have crossed paths with him in recent months to come forward, even with information that might seem minor or unrelated.

Reward Offered For Information

In hopes of generating new leads, Dennis’ family has put up a 2,500 dollar reward for anyone who can provide information about his disappearance or that helps troopers locate him. Rewards in missing persons cases are often used to encourage tips from people who may be hesitant to come forward otherwise, particularly when the missing person was living without stable housing and may have had contact with a wide range of people in different locations.

Family members are hopeful that the reward, combined with public attention to the case, will help bring answers after weeks of uncertainty. They continue to describe him as loved and are urging anyone with even small pieces of information to reach out to police.

How To Help The Search

Michigan State Police asks that anyone with knowledge of Nathan Dennis’ whereabouts, or any information that could assist in the investigation, contact troopers directly at 269 792 2213.

Authorities have not said whether any searches have been conducted in specific areas or whether investigators have identified persons of interest.

Missing persons cases involving unhoused individuals can be especially challenging for law enforcement, since those without a fixed address may travel between multiple communities or rely on a shifting network of contacts. Investigators often depend heavily on tips from the public in these situations, since traditional methods like tracking a home address or workplace may not apply.

For now, Dennis’ family continues to wait for news, holding onto hope that the reward and renewed public attention will lead someone forward with the answers they are searching for. Michigan State Police say the investigation remains open and ongoing as they work to determine what happened to him in the months since he was last seen.
