Police in Barre Town, Vermont, are asking for the public’s help in locating Scott Fysh, a 47-year-old man who has not been seen since the morning of July 9.
Fysh is described as white, with gray hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 140 pounds. Authorities have not released details of what he was wearing.
The Barre Town Police Department says Fysh’s disappearance is not being treated as suspicious at this time, but officers noted there is genuine concern for his safety and wellbeing.
The missing persons flyer was distributed by the Vermont Intelligence Center, which regularly shares alerts through the Vermont Missing Persons Facebook page in hopes of generating tips from the public.
Since the flyer went up, several people who say they know Fysh have posted comments online offering pieces of the timeline leading up to his disappearance.
One commenter, who said she saw him the evening before he was reported missing, wrote that she and others spotted him around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at the park and ride in South Barre. According to her account, his truck remained parked there afterward, though she said it had since been moved to another section of the lot.
Family Members Share Additional Details
A woman identifying herself as Fysh’s sister wrote that he was believed to have been driving a white Dodge Ram pickup truck around the time he went missing. She said she could not recall additional details about the vehicle but asked anyone with information to come forward.
In a separate comment, the same woman said she believed Fysh had tried to reach her by message on the morning of July 9, around 9:48 a.m., but that she was unable to recover the messages after switching phones. She also asked whether there was a way to find out who had originally reported him missing, suggesting the family is still piecing together the hours before he disappeared.
The comments have not been independently confirmed by police, and it remains unclear whether investigators have received or verified the same information shared online. As is standard in missing persons cases, authorities are encouraging anyone with knowledge of Fysh’s whereabouts or anyone who interacted with him on July 8 or July 9 to reach out directly rather than relying on social media alone.
Anyone with information regarding Scott Fysh is asked to contact the Barre Town Police Department at 802-479-0509.
Tips can also reportedly be submitted through the Vermont Missing Persons Facebook page, which continues to share updates as the search continues.
No further details about the circumstances of his disappearance have been released as of this writing.
