Gulf Shores: Millbrook Man Charged With Three Counts of Sexual Abuse After Hotel Incident

Todd Sterlin Trolinger arrested

GULF SHORES, Ala. — A Millbrook man is facing three felony charges after separate incidents in Baldwin County earlier this month, according to court records and statements from local police.

Arrest Follows July Incidents

Todd Sterlin Trolinger Jr., 37, of Millbrook, has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse under Alabama law. Investigators say two of the charges are connected to a July 2 incident in which Trolinger allegedly approached two people from behind and touched them inappropriately. One of those affected was an adult, while the other was identified as a 17-year-old boy.

The third charge stems from an incident the following night. Gulf Shores Police say officers were called to a hotel along Gulf Shores Parkway around 1:30 a.m. on July 3 after receiving a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived, they spoke with an adult man, two adult women, and a minor who told them they were in town for a concert.

According to police, one of the women said that earlier in the night, before officers were contacted, she had been forced to fend off unwanted sexual advances from a relative. Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigations Division were brought in to assist with that portion of the case.

Court documents describe the woman telling investigators that Trolinger held her down on a bed and tried to touch her inappropriately. She reportedly said she felt unable to get away and was hesitant to fight back harder because of threats made against her in the past. The same documents reference a pattern of similar advances toward her when the two were alone.

Investigation Continues, More Victims Possible

Trolinger was taken into custody following the investigation and is currently held at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Gulf Shores Police have since teamed up with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to widen the scope of the case, and officials say the investigation remains open.

Anyone with information related to the Gulf Shores case is asked to reach out to the police department directly. Authorities are also encouraging anyone aware of similar incidents involving Trolinger in other jurisdictions to contact their local law enforcement agency, as investigators work to determine whether there may be additional victims connected to the case.

No additional court dates had been announced as of this report.
