Charleston Woman Missing Since June 2025 Needs Daily Asthma Medication, Family Says

Authorities in Charleston County, South Carolina, are continuing to search for Shamona Fells, a 41-year-old woman who has not been seen since June 30, 2025.

Her disappearance has stretched well past a year, and those close to her case say the situation is made more urgent by her ongoing health needs.

Fells stands 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds. She was originally from Irmo, South Carolina, a town outside Columbia, before she made her way to Charleston.

According to information shared through Missing People In America, a nonprofit organization that maintains a national missing persons database, Fells traveled to Charleston with the intention of moving in with her brother.

However, by the time she went missing, that brother had already relocated elsewhere, leaving her living situation uncertain at the time she vanished.

Health Concerns Add Urgency to the Search

One detail that has been repeated often in connection with this case is Fells’ struggle with severe asthma.

Family and advocates say she relies on a medical inhaler to manage the condition, and going without it for an extended period could pose a serious risk to her health.

This is part of why volunteers and missing persons groups have pushed to keep her case visible online, hoping that someone in the Charleston area, or anywhere else, might recognize her or have information about where she went.

Missing persons cases involving individuals with chronic medical conditions are often treated with added urgency by investigators, since the passage of time can carry greater consequences. Whether Fells has had any access to medication or medical care since her disappearance remains unknown.

Case Remains Open With the Sheriff’s Office

The case is officially logged under case number 2025007712 and remains open with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators have not released additional public details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, including whether there were any witnesses or last known activities before she went missing on June 30 of last year.

Missing People In America says it only shares cases that have been verified through law enforcement sources, and Fells’ profile has been added to what the organization describes as the nation’s largest interactive missing persons database.

The group has also published her case on its website, where additional details and updates may be posted as the investigation continues.

Community members online have used hashtags such as FindShamonaFells in an effort to spread awareness on social media, a tactic increasingly common in missing persons cases where traditional media coverage may be limited.

Advocacy groups argue that wider visibility, even more than a year later, can sometimes lead to new tips or sightings that move a case forward.

Anyone with information about Shamona Fells’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department directly at 843-202-1700.

Tips can often be submitted anonymously, and investigators stress that even small pieces of information, such as a possible sighting or knowledge of where she may have been staying, could prove helpful.

As of now, no further updates have been made public regarding her case status, and she remains listed as missing more than a year after she was last seen in the Charleston area.
