Temple, TX Man Milan Maharjan, 37, Dies After Car Hits Pole and Catches Fire on W. Adams Avenue

The Temple community is grieving the sudden loss of 37-year-old Milan Maharjan, a Temple resident who died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning. Family members, friends, and neighbors are coming to terms with the tragedy that unfolded in the early hours of June 15, 2026, when Maharjan’s vehicle struck a utility pole and burst into flames on a stretch of road that many in the city travel daily.

Temple police officers were dispatched to the intersection of W. Adams Avenue and NW HK Dodgen Loop at approximately 7:39 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle that had collided with a pole and was engulfed in fire. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, nothing could be done to save the driver.

Justice of the Peace Rosanne Fisher pronounced Milan Maharjan dead at the scene. No other individuals were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.

The Temple Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Unit was called in to conduct a thorough on-site investigation. As officers worked to piece together the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision, drivers were urged to seek alternate routes and steer clear of the area.

The intersection remained active with investigators for a significant period as authorities worked to gather all available evidence.

A Life Cut Short, A Community Left Grieving

Milan Maharjan was 37 years old and had made Temple his home. While details about his personal life and background have not been publicly released by authorities, the community response to news of his passing has reflected the deep impact he had on those around him.

For many Nepali-Americans and local residents, the loss carries a particular weight, as Maharjan is a surname widely recognized within the Newar community of Nepal, and individuals bearing that name have built strong, close-knit ties in cities across the United States, including in Central Texas.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation by Temple police. What caused the vehicle to veer off course and strike the pole has not yet been publicly confirmed by authorities.

Investigators with the Traffic Reconstruction Unit are trained to examine road conditions, vehicle data, witness accounts, and physical evidence from the crash site to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the collision. Results of that investigation have not yet been made public.
