Former Williston High School Athlete Aaron Morris Dies at 21, Friends and Family Pay Tribute
Aaron Glenn Morris, 21, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away on the evening of Monday, May 25, 2026.
His death has sent shockwaves through the Williston community, leaving behind a wide circle of family and friends who are now grappling with a loss that none of them were prepared for.
Born on September 5, 2004, Aaron grew up as the kind of young man people naturally gravitated toward.
Those who knew him describe a person who could walk into any room and immediately lift the energy in it. His smile, his humor, and his genuine warmth were constants that people around him counted on without always saying so out loud.
His aunt, Angela Morris Kirby, shared a heartfelt tribute in the days following his passing that captured much of who Aaron was at his core.
She recalled him as a gracious, loving, and kind soul who, even as a toddler sharing a bath with a bulldog, would step aside without complaint and say it was fine for the dog to have the toy. That selfless spirit never left him.
She wrote about sending him $20 over Venmo, offering her couch whenever he needed it, and the pride she felt when he still let her call him Baby in front of his friends.
A Brother, a Best Friend, and a Fisherman Like No Other
Aaron loved baseball, wrestling, scooters, and hunting, but nothing defined him quite like fishing. His best friend, Caden Rossland, wrote about the two of them planning hunting trips together and the excitement Aaron had shown recently after receiving a promotion at his job.
Rossland remembered him teaching him how to string a tip-up during ice fishing outings and the friendly competition they shared trying to hit their limit of birds first. He called Aaron his best friend and his brother.
The Coyote Wrestling Club also shared their grief publicly, remembering Aaron as someone who wore his heart on his sleeve and carried a contagious smile wherever he went.
They asked the community to keep his family, friends, and former teammates in their thoughts and prayers.
A Community Rallies Together to Support the Morris Family
A GoFundMe campaign was launched by Karlee Hoyt on behalf of Aaron’s mother, Amber Grad, to help the family manage funeral costs and unexpected financial burdens following this sudden tragedy.
Within a day of being created, the campaign had drawn 118 donors and raised nearly $13,000 toward a $14,000 goal, a reflection of just how many lives Aaron had touched.
A celebration of Aaron’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at New Hope Wesleyan Church, located at 721 26th Street West in Williston.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Everson Coughlin Funeral Home Chapel at 112 4th Street East. A family service open to the public will also take place at the funeral home at 6:00 PM on Monday.
Friends and family have taken to social media using the hashtags LLA and LLAM, standing for Long Live Aaron and Long Live Aaron Morris, as a way of honoring his memory and keeping his spirit alive in their posts and tributes.
He was 21 years old.
