Royal Palm Beach High School Mourns the Death of Senior Varsity Basketball and Tennis Player Christian Larosiliere

Royal Palm Beach High School is grieving the sudden passing of one of its own. Christian Larosiliere, a senior and standout multi-sport athlete at the Palm Beach County school, has died, leaving behind teammates, coaches, classmates, and a community that is still trying to make sense of the loss.

School principal Dr. Shakeica Robinson addressed families and staff through an official statement posted to the school’s Instagram account, confirming the death without disclosing the student’s name out of respect for the family’s privacy, though the student has since been identified by those close to him.

“It is with deep sadness that I share the news that one of our students recently passed away,” Dr. Robinson wrote. “On behalf of our school community, I have reached out to the student’s family to express our heartfelt condolences and offer support.”

According to his MaxPreps profile, Christian was a Class of 2026 senior, meaning he was in what should have been his final year of high school. He stood 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed 140 pounds. A young man with genuine athletic range, he competed in both varsity tennis and varsity basketball for the Wildcats, wearing number 10 as a shooting guard on the hardwood.

A Competitor on the Court and Beyond

This past basketball season, Christian was part of a Royal Palm Beach squad that finished with a 15- 12 record, placing fifth in district competition.

He was ranked 217th in the state of Florida at his position, a meaningful achievement for a young player still developing his game.

His teammates on the court included Brandon Campbell, Casey Button, Tony Zhu, and several others who now carry the weight of this loss alongside everyone else connected to the program.

On the tennis side, Christian was equally committed, representing the school on the varsity level in a sport that demands individual discipline and mental focus.

The dual-sport commitment alone spoke to his character. Balancing two varsity programs while navigating senior year is not something every student is willing or able to do. Christian did it, and by all accounts did it with pride.

A Community Coming Together

In the aftermath of the news, Royal Palm Beach High School moved quickly to make support available.

The School District’s Department of Behavioral and Mental Health set up on-campus grief counseling beginning Tuesday, May 26, for any students who needed someone to talk to. Families were also reminded that dialing 2-1-1 connects callers to a confidential crisis helpline offering guidance and resources at no charge.

Dr. Robinson urged parents and caregivers to keep a close eye on their children and to encourage them to seek help if they were struggling.

“For some, this may be the first time they have experienced the death of a peer or someone in their community,” she wrote, acknowledging that grief hits young people in deeply personal and sometimes unexpected ways.

Christian Larosiliere was more than an athlete. He was a son, a teammate, a classmate, and a member of a school community that is now rallying around the people who loved him. Royal Palm Beach High School will feel his absence long after this school year ends.
